How many military people used to live?

in Hawaii and are seeing that it was better to come back to the mainland USA. i see hawaii as a tropical place just to visit but hard to live there because of the small island thinking. not just economically but socially hard due to the fact that if you are a non local you are shunned there. for some reason, rudeness abounds. lawlessness abounds. no real growth at all in business and in laws that are seldom enacted upon. no real law enforcement and plenty of drug use and abuse. does anyone else see what i saw in hawaii???? tell me your story.
