Does age really matter?

This is a hard time because hes 5 years older but in 10 years it wouldn't make a difference. If your sure this guys serious then i would slowly introduce him to my family by saying we are just friends at first then if they like him they cant say that they wouldn't want him as your boyfriend because your parents liked him when he was your friend so what changed?
