Was Sammy Sosa ever proven to take steroids?

Other than by his numbers. Meaning once he wasnt able to take them anymore because of testing he virtually vanished. He left baseball pretty much the year of or the year after testing. He tried comming back with the Oriels & looked horible. Without the juice he wasnt a good player anymore!
